St. Joseph Prayer: To "Render Possible for us the most Impossible Things"
"Glorious St. Joseph, spouse of Mary, grant us thy paternal protection, we beseech thee by the Heart of Jesus Christ. O thou whose power extends to all our necessities and can render possible for us the impossible things, open thy fatherly eyes to the needs of thy children."
"In the trouble and distress which afflicts us, we confidently have recourse to thee. Deign to take under your charitable charge this important and difficult matter, cause of our worries. Makes its happy outcome be for God's glory and for the good of His devoted servants. Amen."
- St. Francis de Sales's hard to find St. Joseph prayer
Does St. Joseph have the same mission as Joseph of the Old Testament?
In a dream, the Old Testament Joseph was told how to save Egypt and therefore later he could bring the people of God into that country to save them from death by famine.
In a dream, St. Joseph was told how to save the people of God which consisted of Jesus and Mary by bringing them to Egypt to save them from being killed by King Herod.
What did a disciple of the Apostle John who Jesus made the son of Mary (and Joseph) on the cross say about St. Joseph?
The disciple of the Apostle John named St. Ignatius (30-107) wrote:
"Unknown to thee [Satan]... the removal into Egypt... the name [Joseph] of the father given to Him [Jesus] who did not beget."
(The Ante-Nicene Fathers, Epistle of Ignatius to the Philippians, Chap. VIII. - Continuation Ignorance of Satan, American Reprint of Edinburgh Edition)
The early Church Father St. Ignatius called St. Joseph "the father given to Him [Jesus]" by God the Father who Satan is powerless against in "remov[ing Jesus] into Egypt" to save Him from the murderous Herod.
As the Old Testament dreamer Joseph was the protector of the people of God, so the dreamer St. Joseph was the protector of the New Testament people of God (Jesus and Mary).
And so now, as the Herods in this greatest crisis are trying to kill the people of God (the Church), again, St. Joseph is the protector of the Church.
Pope Pius IX, on 1870, in the decree Quemadmodum Deus, declared St. Joseph the "Patron of the Church" and protector of the Church saying:
"As God appointed Joseph, son of the Patriarch Jacob, over all the land of Egypt to store up corn for the people, so, when the fullness of time was come, and He was about to send to earth His only-begotten Son, the Savior of the world, He chose another Joseph, of whom the first had been the type, and He made him Lord and Ruler of His household and possessions, the Guardian of His greatest treasures."
"And Joseph espoused the Immaculate Virgin Mary, of whom was born by the Holy Ghost, Jesus Christ our Lord, who deigned to be reputed before men as the Son of Joseph, and was subject to him. And Him whom so many kings and prophets desired to see, Joseph not only saw, but abode with, and embraced with paternal affection, and kissed, yea, and most sedulously nourished, even Him whom the faithful should receive as the Bread come down from Heaven, that they might obtain eternal life.
On account of this sublime dignity which God conferred on His most faithful Servant, the Church has always most highly honoured and lauded the Most Blessed Joseph next after his spouse, the Virgin Mother of God, and has implored his intercession in all her great necessities."
"And now that in this most sorrowful time the Church herself is beset by enemies on every side and oppressed by heavy calamities, so that impious men imagine that the gates of hell are at length prevailing against her, the Venerable Prelates of the whole Catholic world have presented to the Sovereign Pontiff their own petitions and those of the faithful confided to their care, praying that he would vouchsafe to constitute St. Joseph Patron of the Catholic Church."
"Moreover, when at the Sacred Ecumenical Council of the Vatican they renewed still more fervently this their petition and prayer, Our Most Holy Lord, Pius IX, Pope, moved thereto by recent deplorable events, was pleased to comply with the desires of the Prelates, and to commit to the most powerful patronage of the Holy Patriarch Joseph both himself and all the faithful and solemnly declared him Patron of the Catholic Church, and commanded his festival, occurring on the 19th of March, to be celebrated as a double of the first class, but without an octave on the account of Lent."
"Further, he ordained that on this day, sacred to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and Spouse of the Most Chaste Joseph, a declaration to that effect should by this present Decree of The Sacred Congregation of Rites be published."
St. Joseph, "Lord and Ruler of His household" which is Jesus and Mary, we ask you to implore the "Immaculate Virgin Mary," your spouse, to implore "Jesus Christ our Lord" to save the Church from the Herod-like "enemies on every side" attempting to kill your Church.
If you are troubled in any way remember to go to "the father given to Him [Jesus]" by God the Father who Satan is powerless against who is Joseph because he and Mary are the Royal Road of King David to Jesus who can't resist their requests because he loves them so much and because of the Commandment to honor your parents.
Lastly, the great scholar Fr. Andrew Doze said go to St. Joseph who listened to the Voice of God through the angels of God.
In this confusing times of the coronavirus hysteria and the Francis Crisis go to Joseph and he will help you even if you are confused and don't understand at the moment what to do. Fr. Doze said:
"Normally, one understands and then does; in the case of Joseph, one does and then understands."
With you St. Joseph and Immaculate Mary, full of grace, in Jesus, we pray an Our Father for Our Father to save the Church from the "enemies on every side" especially the enemies within the Church.
of the Church St. Francis de Sales totally confirmed beyond any doubt
the possibility of a heretical pope and what must be done by the Church
in such a situation:
"[T]he Pope... WHEN he is EXPLICITLY a heretic, he falls ipso facto from his dignity and out of the Church, and the Church MUST either deprive him, or, as some say, declare him deprived, of his Apostolic See."
(The Catholic Controversy, by St. Francis de Sales, Pages 305-306)
Saint Robert Bellarmine, also, said "the Pope heretic is not deposed ipso facto, but must be declared deposed by the Church."
