Biden "is a Slap in the Face to Catholic Voters"

Catholic group denounces Obama's pick of Biden for V.P. Fred Jackson- OneNewsNow - 8/23/2008 6:40:00 AM The Roman Catholic group, Fidelis, says Barack Obama's selection of pro-abortion Catholic Joe Biden to be his V.P. running mate "is a slap in the face to Catholic voters" and poses a major challenge for American Catholics. In a press release sent out overnight, Fidelis president, Brian Burch, declared that Barack Obama has "re-opened a wound among American Catholics" by picking a pro-abortion Catholic politician like Joe Biden. According to Burch, the American Catholic bishops have made it clear that Catholic political leaders must defend the dignity of every human person, including the unborn. " Sadly, Joe Biden's tenure in the United States Senate has been marked by steadfast support for legal abortion" he added. During the recent Democratic primary campaign Biden said: I am a long-standing supporter of Roe v Wade and a woman's right to

Australian Woman Dies from Taking Birth Control Pill

By Thaddeus M. Baklinski MELBOURNE, August 20, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A 24 year old Australian woman's death has been blamed on her use of oral contraceptive pills, which she was taking them as part of her acne treatment. Tanya Hayes died on Monday from a pulmonary embolism - a blood clot in her lungs. Having ignored symptoms, including "breathlessness" and "a nasty, hard cough" for about two weeks, she collapsed on Sunday night in a parking lot and was rushed to Angliss Hospital in Melbourne were she died five hours later. The hospital's director of emergency medicine, Associate Professor Graeme Thomson, said Tanya's death had been "caused by blood clotting caused by factors related to taking the oral contraceptive pill", according to a report by Adelaide Now. Hayes had been taking Yasmin, an oral contraceptive recommended for patients using the acne medication Roaccutane. Women using Roaccutane have an "extremely high risk of having a

Catholics and born-again Christians Help McCain Takes 5-point Lead Over Obama

Obama "slipped among Catholics, born-again Christians" because they are finally learning he is the abortion candidate. Fred Breaking from Newsmax.com Zogby: McCain Takes 5-point Lead Over Obama WASHINGTON - In a sharp turnaround, Republican John McCain has opened a 5-point lead on Democrat Barack Obama in the U.S. presidential race and is seen as a stronger manager of the economy, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday. McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41 percent, wiping out Obama's solid 7-point advantage in July and taking his first lead in the monthly Reuters/Zogby poll. The reversal follows a month of attacks by McCain, who has questioned Obama's experience, criticized his opposition to most new offshore oil drilling and mocked his overseas trip. The poll was taken Thursday through Saturday as Obama wrapped up a weeklong vacation in Hawaii that ceded the political spotlight to McCain, who seized on Russia's invasion

Obama Lied About Infanticide Votes

http://townhall.com/columnists/AmandaCarpenter/2008/08/12/obama_lied_about_abortion_record?page=full&comments=true Obama Lied About Abortion Record by Amanda Carpenter Newly discovered documents from the Illinois state archives prove Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has lied about his opposition to legislation requiring health officials to provide care to babies who survived abortion as an Illinois state senator. Obama has claimed again and again he would have supported his state’s version of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act if it included language to protect abortion rights guaranteed by Roe v. Wade and viciously attacked conservative opponents who suggested otherwise. Now there’s documentation showing Obama did vote against a version of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act that contained language to protect abortion rights identical to the bill that passed 98-0 in the U.S. Senate. “We have a smoking gun committee report,” the National Right to Life Committee’s

Obama "Blatantly Misrepresented" Infanticide Votes

Obama Cover-up Revealed On Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Bill -- Part Two of Two The following statement was issued on Monday, August 11, 2008, by the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) in Washington, D.C. New documents just obtained by NRLC, and linked below, prove that Senator Obama has for the past four years blatantly misrepresented his actions on the Illinois Born-Alive Infants Protection bill. Summary and comment by NRLC spokesman Douglas Johnson: "Newly obtained documents prove that in 2003, Barack Obama, as chairman of an Illinois state Senate committee, voted down a bill to protect live-born survivors of abortion -- even after the panel had amended the bill to contain verbatim language, copied from a federal bill passed by Congress without objection in 2002, explicitly foreclosing any impact on abortion. Obama's legislative actions in 2003 -- denying effective protection even to babies born alive during abortions -- were contrary to the position taken on the

OBAMA RESPONDS TO INFANTICIDE CHARGE IS "BOGUS"

http://www.catholicleague.org/release.php?id=1457 OBAMA RESPONDS TO INFANTICIDE CHARGE July 7, 2008 Reports have surfaced today by Deal Hudson and Jill Stanek that Sen. Barack Obama is dodging the issue of his support for selective infanticide. They refer to an interview that Obama granted last week to Cameron Strang of Relevant magazine. In that exchange, Obama admitted that when he was in the Illinois senate he voted against a bill that would require health care for a baby who survived an abortion. “The reason was that there was already a law in place in Illinois that said that you always have to supply life-saving treatment to any infant under any circumstances, and this bill actually was designed to overturn Roe v. Wade, so I didn’t think it was going to pass constitutional muster.” Catholic League president Bill Donohue weighed in on this issue today: “Is there a single bill forbidding racial discrimination that Obama would refuse to endorse on the grounds that we already have eno
