True Humility in Christ & the Resurrection vs. Modernism's "Resurrection"

he great theologian Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange said "Humility... consists in abasing ourselves before God."
(Christianperfection.info, "The Three Ages of the Interior Life")

True humility or abasement is shown to involve repentance from sin and abasement in and with Jesus to God the Father:

"Catechism of the Catholic Church

537: Through Baptism the Christian... must enter into this mystery of humble self-abasement and repentance, go down into the water with Jesus in order to rise with Him, be reborn of water and the Spirit so as to become the Father's beloved son in the Son."

In 2019, Francis in his Palm Sunday liturgy homily said:

"[Jesus] knows that true triumph involves making room for God... self-emptying. To remain silent, to pray, to accept humiliation."

Francis in a homily in 2014 explained what he means by humiliation:

"That is the path of Jesus Christ: abasement, humility, humiliation... if a thought, if a desire takes you along the road of humility and abasement, of service to others, is from Jesus."
(Catholic News Agency, "Pope Francis: the path of "humiliation' leads us to Jesus," January 7, 2014)

Francis is wrong if he means that "humility and abasement, of service to others" by themselves are the "path of Jesus Christ."

The true path of Jesus Christ to true humility and true charity is "abasing ourselves before God" in repentance from sin and in adoration of the Father by going "down into the water with Jesus in order to rise with Him, be reborn of water and the Spirit so as to become the Father's beloved son in the Son."

After "abasing ourselves before God" and adoring Him then "service for others" flows from our repentance from sin, abasement before God and love of Him.

Catholics following the Apostle St. James's "faith without works is dead" are not Martin Luther Protestants who believe that good works are useless, but we don't abase ourselves before man or do service for man unless it is ultimately pointing to abasement and service to God.

Sadly, it appears for Francis that humility and abasement doesn't necessarily involve or include repentance from sin, abasement before God and adoration of Him.

St. Paul put it best:

"Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them as dung."

Yes, even humiliation and service to others unless it flows from adoration and love of God is "dung," but if it flows from true humility and charity it is precious for "faith without works is dead."

Sadly, self-humiliation is not always good and can be evil. We find this out by a little research into a dung word, coprophilia, of Francis that is related to perversion and moral evil:

"[I]n Psychopathia Sexualis... categorize foot fetishism [such as foot kissing] and coprophilia under the same heading... Self-humiliation."
(Book. google.com, "Dada and Surrealist Films,"Page 165)

This brings us to a historical fact of Francis:

To the best of my knowledge, never before in the history of Catholicism has a healthy pope or anti-pope repeatedly refused to kneel in front of the Holy Eucharist and meanwhile knelled spontaneously to kiss the feet of politicians.

To put this in perspective, imagine if Pope John Paul II while he was still healthy had repeatedly refused to kneel in front of the Holy Eucharist, but meanwhile knelled spontaneously to kiss the feet of politicians like Francis has done.

Pray Francis comes to understand true humility and starts kneeling before the Holy Eucharist.

May we all this Easter have true humility and abase ourselves before God "with Jesus in order to rise with Him, be reborn of water and the Spirit so as to become the Father's beloved son in the Son."

Theologian Fr. John A. Hardon wrote of the "second great truth of our faith, which is of the essence of our faith in the Resurrection is the Holy Eucharist":

In one sentence, the Risen Christ is on earth in the Blessed Sacrament. Over the years in teaching this subject and in lecturing to people, I’ve never failed to bring out what I’m afraid many Catholics do not sufficiently appreciate. When we speak of the Real Presence, we’d better know what we mean by the reality behind that adjective ‘real.’ Do we mean that God is really present in the Blessed Sacrament? Well, I must say, not exactly. Suppose I were to ask, was God present on earth before the Incarnation? The answer that any one who understands his faith should be, of course. Was God present in Nazareth before the Incarnation? He had to be, otherwise there would not have been a Nazareth. Was God present in Mary? He had to be, otherwise there would not have been a Mary. We begin to understand the Real Presence the moment we affirm that the Holy Eucharist began in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To see the implications of that statement is to begin to understand what we mean by the Real Presence.

Back to our original question. What is the reality behind the adjective real in Real Presence? It is the Incarnate Second Person of the Blessed Trinity. It is God become Man. It is God, hear it, it is God present in space and time, what a statement, the only one who has the faith can affirm this is Jesus Christ. Therefore, the living God, who assumed a human nature of His human mother, was conceived. Carried by her for nine months, born in Bethlehem, lived for some thirty years at Nazareth, preached and performed astounding wonders during His three years of ministry in Palestine; was unjustly condemned to death, crucified and died. But this Jesus Christ, in that same human nature which He assumed at the Incarnation, though He really died on Good Friday, really rose on Easter Sunday. And we dare not, I repeat, we dare not qualify one iota by saying there is any difference between the Jesus now at the right hand of His heavenly Father. The same one who forty days after His resurrection ascended into heaven and the Jesus who is present on our altars, reserved in the tabernacle, Whom we receive in Holy Communion. We, therefore, say, and for two thousand years the Catholic Church has been so teaching, God became man for two profoundly, divinely wise reasons. God became man that as man He could die on the cross. But, God became man that having died on the cross and risen from the dead, He might now, in His risen humanity, as we believe in the Blessed Sacrament, continue the salvific work which He began the moment He rose from the grave. And here we open up an ocean of supernatural wisdom.

I hope I will be clear, God became man, indeed, that by His bodily death on the cross He might thereby redeem a sinful world. However, redeeming a sinful world is one thing, this God became man in order to reassume His now glorified humanity, so that through this risen humanity He might communicate the graces that He had won for us by His death on the cross. What are we saying? We are saying that Jesus by His death on the cross, the moment He died, the Church came into existence. The years of preparation were a prelude to what Christ intended. He intended to found a Church and the Church, we believe, came into existence the moment Jesus died. But within this Church there is, that is why Christ established the Church, a treasury of grace which Christ communicates to those who believe in His name. And the single most important source of this grace in the Church which Christ founded, I repeat, the most important source of His grace, is Christ Himself present on earth in the Holy Eucharist. And this, we must say, is why Christ, having died on the cross, rose from the dead. God became man, let’s repeat, God became man not only or mainly to die as man for our redemption. God became man so He might continue after rising from the dead to live as man, there as man on earth, until the last day as our principle source of grace. The Holy Eucharist is our main, primordial, fundamental, indispensable source of grace, and whatever else you carry away from this meditation on the resurrection of Christ, I beg you in the name of Jesus, I beg you, to carry away this truth. Jesus Christ the Risen Savior is on earth and He is here mainly to provide us with the grace that His risen humanity wants to give us. On one condition, that we have the faith to believe in His Presence and approach Him, worship Him, receive Him, as often and with as much fervor as we can, with the grace that He provides. The Eucharist is the means of making saints. No one, no one has ever become a saint without the Eucharist. No one. [https://hardonsj.org/our-lords-resurrection-is-a-fact-of-recorded-history/]

Scholar A.J. Maas wrote the following on the "Modernist View" of the Resurrection which follows:

The Holy Office describes and condemns in the thirty-sixth and thirty-seventh propositions of the Decree "Lamentabili", the views advocated by a fourth class of opponents of the Resurrection. The former of these propositions reads: "The Resurrection of our Saviour is not properly a fact of the historical order, but a fact of the purely supernatural order neither proved nor provable, which Christian consciousness has little by little inferred from other facts." This statement agrees with, and is further explained by the words of Loisy ("Autour d'un petit livre", p. viii, 120-121, 169; "L'Evangile et l'Eglise", pp. 74-78; 120-121; 171). According to Loisy, firstly, the entrance into life immortal of one risen from the dead is not subject to observation; it is a supernatural, hyper-historical fact, not capable of historical proof. The proofs alleged for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ are inadequate; the empty sepulchre is only an indirect argument, while the apparitions of the risen Christ are open to suspicion on a priori grounds, being sensible impressions of a supernatural reality; and they are doubtful evidence from a critical point of view, on account of the discrepancies in the various Scriptural narratives and the mixed character of the detail connected with the apparitions. Secondly, if one prescinds from the faith of the Apostles, the testimony of the New Testament does not furnish a certain argument for the fact of the Resurrection. This faith of the Apostles is concerned not so much with the Resurrection of Jesus Christ as with His immortal life; being based on the apparitions, which are unsatisfactory evidence from an historical point of view, its force is appreciated only by faith itself; being a development of the idea of an immortal Messias, it is an evolution of Christian consciousness, though it is at the same time a corrective of the scandal of the Cross. The Holy Office rejects this view of the Resurrection when it condemns the thirty-seventh proposition in the Decree "Lamentabili": "The faith in the Resurrection of Christ pointed at the beginning no so much to the fact of the Resurrection, as to the immortal life of Christ with God."

Besides the authoritative rejection of the foregoing view, we may submit the following three considerations which render it untenable: First, the contention that the Resurrection of Christ cannot be proved historically is not in accord with science. Science does not know enough about the limitations and the properties of a body raised from the dead to immortal life to warrant the assertion that such a body cannot be perceived by the senses; again in the case of Christ, the empty sepulchre with all its concrete circumstances cannot be explained except by a miraculous Divine intervention as supernatural in its character as the Resurrection of Jesus. Secondly, history does not allow us to regard the belief in the Resurrection as the result of a gradual evolution in Christian consciousness. The apparitions were not a mere projection of the disciples' Messianic hope and expectation; their Messianic hope and expectations had to be revived by the apparitions. Again, the Apostles did not begin with preaching the immortal life of Christ with God, but they preached Christ's Resurrection from the very beginning, they insisted on it as a fundamental fact and they described even some of the details connected with this fact: Acts, ii, 24, 31; iii, 15,26; iv, 10; v, 30; x, 39-40; xiii, 30, 37; xvii, 31-2; Rom., i,4; iv, 25; vi, 4,9; viii, 11, 34; x, 7; xiv, 9; I Cor., xv, 4, 13 sqq.; etc. Thirdly, the denial of the historical certainty of Christ's Resurrection involves several historical blunders: it questions the objective reality of the apparitions without any historical grounds for such a doubt; it denies the fact of the empty sepulchre in spite of solid historical evidence to the contrary; it questions even the fact of Christ's burial in Joseph's sepulchre, though this fact is based on the clear and simply unimpeachable testimony of history.

Pray an Our Father now for reparation for the sins committed because of Francis's Amoris Laetitia.

Pray an Our Father now for the restoration of the Church as well as the Triumph of the Kingdom of the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Stop for a moment of silence, ask Jesus Christ what He wants you to do now and next. In this silence remember God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost - Three Divine Persons yet One God, has an ordered universe where you can know truth and falsehood as well as never forget that He wants you to have eternal happiness with Him as his son or daughter by grace. Make this a practice. By doing this you are doing more good than reading anything here or anywhere else on the Internet.

Francis Notes:

Doctor of the Church St. Francis de Sales totally confirmed beyond any doubt the possibility of a heretical pope and what must be done by the Church in such a situation:

"[T]he Pope... WHEN he is EXPLICITLY a heretic, he falls ipso facto from his dignity and out of the Church, and the Church MUST either deprive him, or, as some say, declare him deprived, of his Apostolic See."
(The Catholic Controversy, by St. Francis de Sales, Pages 305-306)

Saint Robert Bellarmine, also, said "the Pope heretic is not deposed ipso facto, but must be declared deposed by the Church."
