Complicit Clergy reported today that "In Canada, Catholic Bishops Back Tyrant as Evangelical Pastors Defy Trudeau":
Evangelical pastors and academics are warning prime minister Justin Trudeau of God’s wrath even as faithful Catholics lament the capitulation of Canada’s bishops to the nation’s tyrannical regime.
On Sunday, archbishop of Gatineau Paul-André Durocher slammed Vatican whistleblower Abp. Carlo Maria Viganò for supporting the truckers’ peaceful protests...
... A day before blasting Viganò, the Gatineau prelate endorsed an article by left-wing journalist Christopher Curtis claiming that the protesting truckers were a “hodgepodge of New Age healers and right-wing militants.”
Curtis, who calls abortion a “fundamental right.” [https://www.complicitclergy.com/2022/02/22/in-canada-catholic-bishops-back-tyrant-as-evangelical-pastors-defy-trudeau/]
Columnist Dennis Prager illustrated what the Francis bishops are backing is an "all-encompassing government, suppression of dissent and the denial of fundamental human rights":
In terms of all-encompassing government, suppression of dissent and the denial of fundamental human rights to many of its citizens, Canada is now more similar to Cuba
than to any free country. Canada may eventually return to Western
civilization, but as of this writing, the majority of Canadians appear
to have no interest in it doing so. According to Maru Public Opinion,
“two-thirds (66 percent) of Canadians support Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bringing in the Emergencies Act
…. A majority (56 percent) of Canadians do not support the truckers who
are protesting in any way, shape, or form …. This is a majority view
held in every province/region across the country.”
[...]
The CBC described in detail how Trudeau is using the Emergencies Act to destroy the lives of Canadian dissidents. This should be read carefully. Such policies have never been enacted by a Western country against its own citizens (with the extremely rare exceptions of those actively engaged in terrorism):
“Using powers granted under the Emergencies Act, the federal government has directed banks and other financial institutions to stop doing business with people associated with the anti-vaccine mandate convoy occupying the nation’s capital.
“The government’s new directive, called the ‘emergency economic measures order,’ goes beyond asking banks to simply stop transferring funds to protest organizers. The government wants banks to stop doing business with some people altogether.
“The order says that banks and other financial entities (like credit unions, co-ops, loan companies, trusts and cryptocurrency platforms) must stop ‘providing any financial or related services’ to people associated with the protests—a move that will result in frozen accounts, stranded money and cancelled credit cards.
“The Emergencies Act gives authorities the power to freeze the finances of those connected to blockades and protests, and the consequences could last long after the demonstrations end …
“The regulation’s definition of a ‘designated person’ also includes … anyone sending funds to support these protests …
“Mark Blumberg is a lawyer at Blumberg Segal LLP who specializes in non-profit and charity law. In an interview, he said that while the Emergencies Act gives banks time-limited powers, these institutions ‘may just decide to shut the person’s account down’ because there could be ‘huge risks’ for banks servicing these customers in the future. Banks will be working with law enforcement to decide who should be ‘de-banked.’
“A senior government official said … police could gather the names and license plate numbers of people participating in a protest or an unlawful assembly and share that information with FINTRAC (Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada) …
“Former CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) senior strategic analyst Jessica Davis (said) ‘the people who are participating in the protest aren’t going to be able to do things like pay bills, pay their hotel bills. They will eventually run out of supplies as well …
“With access to bank accounts and credit cards and other financial instruments suspended, protesters won’t be able to pay for things like hotel and fuel bills …
“Over the longer term, Davis said, it may be hard for some of the truckers participating to ever find work again because they could lack the necessary insurance to operate a big rig. ‘Paying bills, paying rent and any kind of day-to-day financial transaction can be stopped for people who are part of the protest movement,’ she said. There may also be some ‘unintended consequences’ from frozen accounts, such as suspended alimony and child support payments, Davis said. ‘It’s going to be very difficult for them.’
“Banks have been granted immunity against legal action in the event of disputes over whether someone should have been denied financial services. ‘No proceedings under the Emergencies Act and no civil proceedings lie against an entity for complying with this Order,’ the regulations read.”
None of these life-ruining, due-process defying measures is
necessary. The truckers’ demonstrations could have been ended by
arresting drivers who would not move their trucks or simply just towing
their trucks. The purpose of these regulations is to destroy dissenters
and deter future dissent. In a word, it is to ruin the lives of those
who disobey Justin Trudeau. [https://www.theepochtimes.com/is-canada-becoming-north-americas-cuba_4294599.html?utm_source=Morningbrief&utm_campaign=mb-2022-02-22&utm_medium=email&est=3%2FQSDuo9QozeuCM2hFWcUYrdzKkIMb0wAo3PNmwpre2AcoBKRUg5o10KQfHD]
Have the majority of Canadian and their bishops in "Back[ing] [the] Tyrant" become like Francis in imitation of his betrayal of Chinese Catholics?
Everyone remembers when Francis slapped the Asian woman, but most forget that she was apparently according to the Fr. Z website distraught about China's totalitarian suppression of free Hong Kong.
His post had an Asian commenter Disc-Thrower from a Asian "multiethnic city" say her language isn't any of seven Asian languages he knows and "wondered if" it was heavily accented "Spanish or Italian?" and he said she said "Hong Kong es... ."
As the Fr. Z's headline appeared to put it the "distraught woman [was]... plead[ing]" for Francis to support Hong Kong, despite the pro-China Francis refusal to condemn the Chinese Communist regime's puppets in Hong Kong who are brutally manhandling and arresting the Hong Kong freedom protesters.
Was the distraught women worried that Francis would betray Hong Kong like he betrayed the Chinese Catholics?
It appears that Francis's China deal was a cold-blooded betrayal.
Francis is appointing Communist regime operatives as bishops who de
facto endorse the Chinese two-child policy of murdering of the unborn
babies.
He is coldblooded endorsing the murder of millions of unborn Chinese babies and the betrayal of China's underground Church.
In 2017, Cardinal Joseph Zen before Christmas said:
"China's underground Church... feels betrayed."
Francis's Vatican has "demanded the retirement of one bishop and the
demotion of another" so that Communist totalitarian controlled state
bishops can get control of the underground Chinese Church.
The National Review's Michael Dougherty reported what this Vatican
betrayal means to the Chinese Catholics in quoting a Chinese underground
pewsitter witness to the Communist regime's reign of terror:
"Everybody, and I mean everybody, knows someone who was murdered, or
tortured, or disappeared to defend the principle that was just
abandoned."
(National Review, "The Vatican's Deal with China: What to make of Cardinal Parolin's Diplomacy," January 23, 2017)
Cardinal Joseph Zen, bishop emeritus of Hong Kong in 2016 said the
Francis "diplomacy" is like betraying Joseph, Mary and the baby Jesus to
the murderous Herod.
Cardinal Zen said:
"[T]oday would our diplomats advise Joseph to go and humbly beg for dialogue with Herod!"
He betrayed the Chinese underground Church? Did he betray Hong Kong?
On November 29, the
South China Morning Post reported that Francis did not side with the
freedom fighter against the totalitarian regime when he said:
"'It’s
not only Hong Kong, there are various problematic situations that I am
unable to evaluate at the moment. I respect peace and I ask for peace
for all these countries that have problems, Spain too,' he [Francis] said."
It appears that Francis in not siding with the Hong Kong freedom fighters helped the Chinese communist regime's suppression of democracy. If this is true then his mission was accomplished. The Epoch Times reported:
May Canadian St. Br. André Bessette pray for his country, the Chinese Catholics and the Church under Francis's regime of bishops. Br. Andre also suffered under "false brethren," as St. Paul called them, as he worked for the sick in a real epidemic:
People claimed that they had been cured through the prayers of the good Brother and Saint Joseph, and they were grateful their prayers had been heard. Brother André steadfastly refused to take any credit for these cures. Bessette's desire to see Saint Joseph honoured led him in 1904 to launch a campaign to build a chapel for that purpose.[6]
"When an epidemic broke out at a nearby college, André volunteered to nurse. Not one person died. The trickle of sick people to his door became a flood. His superiors were uneasy; diocesan authorities were suspicious; doctors called him a quack. "I do not cure," he said again and again. "Saint Joseph cures." In the end he needed four secretaries to handle the 80,000 letters he received each year."[10]
As tensions increased at the college with so many of the sick coming to see the porter, the school officials decided that Brother André could no longer continue with his ministry. He was permitted to receive the sick in the nearby tramway station rather than the college. As his reputation spread, Brother André became quite a controversial figure. There were many religious in the Congregation of Holy Cross, teachers and parents of students at the College who supported him but many others opposed him and even considered him dangerous to the well-being of the school's reputation because they regarded him as a charlatan. Others were concerned for the good health of the children, fearing the possibility of contagion in the school spread from diseases carried by the sick who frequented Brother André.[11]
In 1924 construction of a basilica named Saint Joseph's Oratory began on the side of the mountain, near Bessette's chapel...
... Brother André was beatified by Pope John Paul II on May 23, 1982.[6] The miracle cited in support of his beatification was the healing in 1958 of Giuseppe Carlo Audino, who suffered from cancer. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9_Bessette]
Pray an Our Father now for reparation for the sins committed because of Francis's Amoris Laetitia.
