Did Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (the future Pope Benedict XVI) say that Francis is a heretic ? On June 3, 2003 the then Cardinal Ratzinge r (and future Pope Benedict) , head of the Congregation for the Faith, said that the endorsement of " homosex civil unions" was against Catholic teaching, that is heterodoxy : "Those who would move from tolerance to the legitimatization of specific rights for cohabiting homosexual persons need to be reminded that the approval or legalization of evil is something far different from the toleration of evil... The Church teaches that respect for homosexual persons cannot lead in any way to approval of homosexual behavior or to legal recognition of homosexual unions ." (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, "Considerations Regarding Proposals to give Legal Recognition to Unions between Homosexual Persons," June 3, 2003) Gloria.tv reported: " Francis made on October 21 his latest declaration in sup...
Good article. I split my day between an ephemeris article and novel writing. The first got really edgy. I set it aside for clarity’s sake, but it deals with some of the same issues. Let’s face it. We don’t have a Gulag Archipelago, but we do have a Blue Archipelago of urban moral sinkholes where gang violence is fueled by drugs from Mexico. The concept of fatherhood was exactly what I wanted to touch on. If there is a way to save cities, that’s the key. Many urban black people look around them and see failed cities. In East St. Louis (which made the roll of northern “cages” in Randy Newman’s 1974 song Rednecks on his excellent and perceptive album Good Ol Boys) I always noticed a tree growing from the roof of an abandoned building of maybe eight or ten stories when I would go to federal court there.. It looks like that show After Man.
Personally, I believe BLM is a huge tactical error. As we say in trial courts, it “opened the door” for a frank and open discussion of race in America. I have compassion for people trapped in decaying, hopeless cities. I wish they could realize that Democrats only want their votes and their lives never get better. Not even under two terms of a black president. I understand the frustration, but also that it is hard to put myself in their place. I just don’t see hope for change, though. BLM just further marginalizes that segment.
But today I read Pope Gregory XVI’s Mirari Vos encyclical and realized it was an anti-U.S. Constitution. This country was founded by Masons and Freethinkers on Indifferentism, which leads to Godlessness in practice. They coupled that with a mania for more “freedom” than most people can handle. And here we are. America may be great, but it is not good.
There was far more, a fine old rant, but I exceeded my character count.
Your rants, as always, are full of wisdom. My greatest wish for Blacks who I grew up with in my Latino neighborhood is that they would read their greatest living scholar Thomas Sowell.
I think Gregory explains both the problem with the U.S. and the Church since Vatican II: if "freedom" as the serpent convinced Eve is more important than God then everything sooner or later falls apart.
Don't worry. For some reason everyone wants to call me Frank. Only a friend named Wilma calls me Mr. Fred Flintstone.
Pray an Our Father now for the restoration of the Church as well as the Triumph of the Kingdom of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Pray an Our Father now that God gives President Trump the grace to do His will in this present COVID hysteria crisis and to be reelected.
