Wisdom from Catholic Monitor reader Ivan:
"Prayer is the only answer for our age. If you pray humbly, you will be part of the solution."
This is so true! The prayer!
About such huge, an enormous importance of the prayer we were told by our very Lord:
"Vigilate, et orate ut non intretis in tentationem. Spiritus quidem promptus est, caro autem infirma." (Watch ye, and pray that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh weak.) (Mt 26,41)
when He, God the Son himself on the Olivet mount went to pray to His Father in Heaven.
Or, as great apostle Saint Paul in his letter to the Philippians, which is btw. also the first liturgical reading of this sunday, Dominica III Adventa stated:
"Nihil solliciti sitis : sed in omni oratione, et obsecratione, cum gratiarum actione petitiones vestrae innotescant apud Deum." (Be nothing solicitous; but in every thing, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God.) (Phil 4,6)
Or, as our great Saint Alphonso Liguori his own best book dedicates to prayer and the great importance of prayer "The Great Means of Salvation and Perfection", about which this great Saint wrote:
“This book, though small, has cost me a great deal of labor. I regard it as of extreme utility to all sorts of persons; and I unhesitatingly assert that among all spiritual treatises, there is none, and there can be none, more necessary than that which treats on prayer as a means of obtaining eternal salvation. I do not think that I have written a more useful work than the present, in which I speak of prayer as a necessary and certain means of obtaining salvation, and all the graces that we require for that object. If it were in my power, I would distribute a copy of it to every Catholic in the world, in order to show him the absolute necessity of prayer for salvation.”

You also said that the passage from the book of the prophet Jeremiah which you've quoted incidentally has been eliminated from the NAB...
But I would expatiate this a bit.
There are many, way too much passages from the NAB and many other Bible translations eliminated, left out, twisted, changed,... And I am talking here not only about English versions of so-called Bible translations, but also about translated versions in all other languages of the modern time. Or shall we say progressive instead of modern?
You can trust Douay-Rheims American Edition from 1899, which seems to be a very good authentic translation from the official Latin Vulgate Clementine when we talk about the English translation of the Holy Scripture.
Other translated versions including NAB cannot be even called a Catholic Bible when you see and understand what they've done with it.
You should take just few of many examples like book of Tobit and book of Judith, assuming DRA translation is the correct version and compare it with NAB, NASB, NASBRE, RSVCE, KJV, or any other version.
It concerns book of Tobit:
Tobit chapter 6,16-17; and chapter 6.22
Tobit chapter 8
Tobit chapter 12,13
Judith chapter 13, 20-31
John 5.4
...
Check this, put it side by side, compare it with each other, and you will see how much they deliberately, knowingly and willingly, have inverted, scrambled the very Holy Scripture.
. . .
. . .
You will know why they did what they did with the book of Tobit, if I tell you that they did it for the reason of achieving a long-planned and deliberate attack on the very Doctrine of Christian marriage - The Sacrament of Matrimony.
For Christian understanding of marriages, the Old Testament Book of Tobit is extremely important. Especially those warnings given by Archangel Rafael to Tobit 6, 16-17, and Tobit 6, 22.
In the Vulgate this is what Tobit 6, 16-17 says:
"Tunc angelus Raphael dixit ei: Audi me, et ostendam tibi qui sunt, quibus praevalere potest daemonium. Hi namque qui coniugium ita suscipiunt, ut Deum a se et a sua mente excludant, et suae libidini ita vacent, sicut equus et mulus, quibus non est intellectus -- habet potestatem daemonium super eos."
("Then the angel Raphael said to him: Hear me, and I will shew thee who they are, over whom the devil can prevail.
For they who in such manner receive matrimony, as to shut out God from themselves, and from their mind, and to give themselves to their lust, as the horse and mule, which have not understanding, over them the devil hath power.")
According these words, we can well judge how much today there are marriages over which the devil's rules. Is it weird then that there are so many divorces? Another important point came from those words from Tob 6, 22, which in the Vulgate are:
"accipies virginem cum timore Domini, amore filiorum magis quam libidine ductus"
("thou shalt take the virgin with the fear of the Lord, moved rather for love of children [offspring] than for lust")
This places from Tobit are cited by the Catechism of the Council of Trent in the chapter about marriage (when talking about the reasons why men and women enter into the Sacrament of Marriage), and remarks:
"Atque una etiam haec causa fuit cur Deus ab initio matrimonium instituerit. Quare fit ut illorum sit scelus gravissimum, qui matrimonio iuncti, medicamentis vel conceptum impediunt vel partum abigunt: haec enim homicidarum impia conspiratio existimanda sit."
("And this is also one reason why God established from the beginning the marriage. For this reason, it is the most difficult crime of those who, together in marriage, are preventing conception, or doing abortion: this should be considered as evil conspiracy of the killers.")
It is worth repeating here again the purpose of marriage according to the Code of Canon Law from 1917 (Can. 1013 § 1):
"Matrimonii finis primarius est procreatio atque educatio prolis; secundarius mutuum adiutorium et remedium concupiscentiae."
( "The first purpose of marriage is procreation and raising children; second, the mutual help of a spouses, and a cure against the lust.")
As you probably know, the modernist heretics (especially Cardinal Suenens) took a real war against this doctrine, at the Second Vatican Council. Unfortunately, the progressives have partly succeeded in putting some ambiguity into some documents.
A result of this is the new Code of Canon Law which came in 1983., which has mixed purposes of marriage, so that puts an abstract concept of "common good of the spouses" in front of the procreation and raising children!

Also, did you knew the real factcheck about NAB?
The page COLLABORATORS ON THE REVISED NEW TESTAMENT BIBLE 1986 includes, among the four members of the Bishops' Ad Hoc Committee, Most Rev. Theodore E. McCarrick, D.D.
The page COLLABORATORS ON THE OLD TESTAMENT OF THE NEW AMERICAN BIBLE 2010 lists all the members of the Bishops' Committee on Doctrine. Pray an Our Father now in reparation for the sins of Francis's Amoris Laetitia.
Pray an Our Father now for the restoration of the Church as well as the Triumph of the Kingdom of the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Stop for a moment of silence, ask Jesus Christ what He wants you to do now and next. In this silence remember God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost - Three Divine Persons yet One God, has an ordered universe where you can know truth and falsehood as well as never forget that He wants you to have eternal happiness with Him as his son or daughter by grace. Make this a practice. By doing this you are doing more good than reading anything here or anywhere else on the Internet.
