Palin Weighs in on Media Slander against Her Family

WASILLA, Alaska, January 9, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Though Sarah Palin has reportedly declined hordes of journalists requesting interviews, the Alaskan governor opened the door of her home to freelance documentarian John Ziegler when he asked for her opinion on media bias in the 2008 elections.
Ziegler has released some footage of the Wasilla interview, which will appear in an extended version in his upcoming documentary, "Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected." In the video, Palin reveals her attempts to rectify falsehoods perpetuated by a recalcitrant media, and her particular dismay at slurs aimed at her family.
"Quite absurd was my interpretation of what was being said," said Palin, adding that she is "frustrated" that the false rumor that she is not the real mother of her infant son Trig perpetuates even to this day.
"When did we start accepting as hard news sources bloggers, anonymous bloggers especially?" asked Palin. "It's a sad state of affairs in the world of the media today, the mainstream media especially, if they're going to rely on anonymous bloggers for their hard news information. Very scary."
"Is it political? Is it sexism? What is it that drives someone to believe the worst and perpetuate the worst in terms of gossip (and) lies?" she mused.
When Obama asked the media that his wife and family remain off-limits in terms of probing news coverage, Palin noted, "I naively believed, 'Ok, they respected that ... that must apply to all of us, right?'
"But, it didn't apply," she said.
Palin expressed particular irritation when she described how the media refused to correct false information concerning her family. Referring to scurrilous reports about Palin's daughter Bristol and her engagement, Palin lamented, "I've asked some in the media to correct that, and they haven't corrected it, and that gets frustrating."
When Ziegler asked, "Why would you ever want to go through this again?" Palin responded with a smile, "That's a darn good question.
"I would do it again though, knowing that there is great need in our country for reform," she added.

Ziegler later commented on the interview, issuing high praise for the Alaska governor, despite what he described as his initial cynicism.
"One of the things you quickly learn when you visit the Palins is that the legend created around who they are and how they live is no myth," said Ziegler. "We saw the genuine Sarah Palin and it is patently obvious this is the only one who exists. She is the real deal.
"As a former TV sportscaster and radio talk show host I’ve interviewed a lot (sic) big-time 'celebrities,' and can honestly say that even though you could argue Sarah Palin was the most prominent, she is also by far the nicest, most sincere and seemingly honest subject I’ve ever questioned," said Ziegler.
As a "world-class cynic" Ziegler said he had wondered whether "there was at least some truth to the negative media narrative created about her. Maybe she really wasn’t that smart, maybe she was indeed a 'diva' or a 'wack job.'
"Well, if any of those smears are remotely true, Palin should move to LA permanently because she’s a far better actor (not to mention better looking) than the vast majority of actresses in Hollywood," he said.

Plot to Infiltrate and Taint Social Conservative "Team Sarah" Network Exposed
WASHINGTON, D.C. , January 9, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Yesterday leaders of the Susan B. Anthony List responded to the recent discovery of a plot by liberal internet activists to attack http://www.teamsarah.org, a community dedicated to advancing the values that Sarah Palin represents in the political process:
“Team Sarah recently uncovered a plot by liberal activists to frame our community for harboring hate speech and bigotry,” said Emily Buchanan, Executive Director of the Susan B. Anthony List and Team Sarah Site Administrator. “Liberal extremists at http://www.somethingawful.com concocted a plot to join Team Sarah under false pretenses and intentionally provoke our members by posting incendiary and bigoted remarks that violated our terms of use.”
Susan B. Anthony List President and Team Sarah Co-Founder Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement, “Two weeks ago, the Huffington Post published a story criticizing Team Sarah for the supposed racist behavior of its membership – yet had they exercised even the most basic of fact-checking, we could have informed them of the recent escalation in bigoted postings from liberal impostors, not from our bona fide membership.”
“Clearly Governor Sarah Palin’s influence has irked the Left. Here we are months after the election, and liberal extremists are still doing all they can to tear her down. Fortunately the truth will prevail. Team Sarah will continue to grow and its membership will continue to advance the values represented by the trailblazing governor.”
The coordinated attack by liberal bloggers was discovered on Friday, January 2, 2009. The Weekly Standard covered the incident on January 7, 2009. Over ninety impostors were banned from http://www.teamsarah.org last weekend after bona fide Team Sarah members reported violations to community moderators. Interlopers continue to be banned daily.
One of the attackers explained their goal: "What I hope is that the fake posters eventually number the actual posters so it would be impossible to tell who is real and who is fake."
After a cease and desist letter was sent by Team Sarah to the site administrator of http://www.somethingawful.com on Friday January 2, 2009, the offending forum was removed from the website, but new forums have since been posted. Attacks have continued, most recently including yesterday’s planned 2:00A.M. mass posting of pornography photos in Team Sarah forums.
Team Sarah is a coalition of women dedicated to advancing the values that Sarah Palin represents in the political process. Its political networking website, http://www.teamsarah.org, has grown to over 60,000 activists in the last four months. Co-Founders of Team Sarah include Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of the Susan B. Anthony List, and Jane Abraham, the organization’s General Chairman.
