Does Pope Francis Believe in Truth or Power?

Catholic common sense, following St. Thomas Aquinas's philosophy, believes that our senses and reason are reliable.

Truth can be known.

In Edward Feser's philosophy blog a commenter named Rank Sophist argued against truth saying that Eastern philosophy believes that the senses and logic "lie."

Reality, truth and reason in Eastern Philosophy are "Maya" which means they are ultimately total illusion.

The sophist made me laugh.

Why is the dummy bothering to write (sense of sight) and agrue (logical presentation) if the guy believes the senses and reason are illusion?

The theologians that Pope Francis believes to be reliable such as the Hegelian Cardinal Kasper and the Postmodernist Michel de Certeau (Bergoglio's favorite theologian), like the sophist, don't believe in objective truth or reason.

But unlike the Rank Sophist, they can't be laughed away. They believe in power.

Eminent Austrian philosopher Thomas Stark, in an interview with the National Catholic Register, said that Kasper's theology is Hegelian idealism (senses are not reliable) which "historicizes truth" in a way that "is not coherent" and that "violates the law of non-contradiction."

"Historicized truth" means nineteenth century "truth" is different form twentieth century "truth."

"Violating the law of non-contradiction" means in Hegel's dialectic non-logic that sin can become non-sin and then evolve into something else.

As Francis's close confidant Fr. Spadaro who is called "the Pope's mouthpiece" wrote:

"2+2 in #Theology can make 5."

There is no objective truth or reason.

For Kasper there are not eternal infallible truths for all time. History or time is greater that truth. As Francis said:

"Time is greater than space."

The sin of adultery can become the non-sin of "irregular relationship" which can evolve into cohabitation/fornication which has "the grace of a real marriage" as Pope Francis said.

For St. Thomas adultery is adultery. Marriage is marriage. A hen is a hen. A egg is a egg.

Hegelians disagree with Aquinas. G.K. Chesterton explained how they think:

"The Hegelian may say that an egg is really a hen, because it's a part of an endless process of Becoming."

For Kasper, and it appears for Francis, there is no objective truth or reason.

This is bad. But, even worst is the end result of Hegelism.

In the book "The Ominous Parallels," philosopher Leonard Peikoff wrote of the ultimate end or Becoming of Hegel:

"'All the worth which the human being possesses,' writes Hegel, 'all spiritual reality, he possesses only through the state.'"

The Hegelian philosophy of history of superior states evolving from inferior states (or the bringing about of the super state from a inferior state by a process of Becoming) brought us:

The totalitarian states of the mass murdering holocausts of Hitler's National Socialist Germany (implicitly) and Marxist Russia (explicitly).

Philosopher Stephen Hicks in the book "Explaining Postmodernism" demonstrated how Marxism and Nazism are not just the direct product of Hegel's totalitarian state philosophy, but while using different names and tactics they both have the same ideology: socialism. Hicks wrote:

"Hitler, for example,  declared that 'basically National Socialism and Marxism are the same.' And Josef Goebbels, who had a Ph. D. in philosophy...argued the same point...that the Communists believed that socialism could be achieved at the international level, while the National Socialist believed that it could and should occur at the national level."

Marx and Lenin explicitly turned Hegelism into the Marxist historically evolved dialectic internationalist states.

Hitler implicitly turned the German Hegel's philosophy into the historically evolved superman racist national state.

Following in their Hegelian footsteps came the historically evolved Latin American Marxist/Socialist/Fascist tyrannies and disasters such as Peron's Argentina (and Nazi haven), Castro's Cuba and Maduro's Venezuela.

Francis supported Peron and Castro.

The Pope appears to be propping up the Maduro tyranny against the will the people of Venezuela who want freedom.

These tyrannies are the end result of Kasper's Hegelian philosophy.

In Kasper's theology, his "spirit" and "truth" are not the Holy Spirit or the infallible truths of the Catholic Church, but the historical process of Hegel's philosophy.

In an article called "German Idealism and Cardinal Kasper's Theological Project" for The Catholic World Report, the philosopher Stark said:

"Kasper's...'spirit' that--Kasper himself says--is not identical to the third divine person, but is much more reminiscent of Hegel's absolute spirit, who in a historical process, synthesizing it's dialectical opposites in itself, develops into the whole, that is the truth."

Pope Francis, four days after his election as Pope, called Kasper a "good theologian." (Wikipedia)

In 2014, Francis said:

"I read and re-read the work of Cardinal Kasper, I would like to thank him because I found profound theology."(Catholic Herald)

As Jeff Mirus said of the Pope, when Francis praised Bernard Haring who defends intrinsically evils acts, he "must be ignorant, confused, or subversive."

Either the Pope is ignorant and confused, or Francis believes in the "spirit" of Kasper.

That "spirit" is not the Holy Spirit.

That "'spirit' that-- Kasper himself says--is not identical to the third divine person."

Does Pope Francis believe in Kasper's "'spirit'...in a historical process" or the Holy Spirit who is eternally God and who insures the infallible eternal truths of the Catholic Church or the the Hegelian changeable god of historical process and the changing with time "truths" of Kasper, Hegel, Marx, Castro, Peron and Hitler?

After all, Francis in his uninspired and non-infallible writings says he believes in "initiating processes rather than possessing spaces" and "time is greater than space."

"Exorcist Fr. Ripperger is asking everyone to say this Prayer until the Election is Resolved"

A good friend of the Catholic Monitor got this from a group message. She said "exorcist Fr. Chad Ripperger is asking everyone to say this prayer until the election is resolved": Prayer of Command In His Name and by the power of His Cross and Blood, I ask Jesus to bind any evil spirits, forces and powers of the earth, air, fire, or water, of the netherworld and the satanic forces of nature.  By the power of the Holy Spirit and by His authority, I ask Jesus Christ to break any curses, hexes, or spells and send them back to where they came from, if it be His Holy Will.  I beseech Thee Lord Jesus to protect us by pouring Thy Precious Blood on us (my family, etc.), which Thou hast shed for us and I ask Thee to command that any departing spirits leave quietly, without disturbance, and go straight to Thy Cross to dispose of as Thou sees fit.  I ask Thee to bind any demonic interaction, interplay, or communications.  I place N. High-profile Lawyer Barnes: Amy Coney Barrett would be a Disaster

High-profile trial lawyer Robert Barnes who deals in civil, criminal and constitutional law reported on Twitter that Amy Coney Barrett would be a disaster. The Barnes Twitter report shows that Coney Barrett has " sid[ed] with the government on the lockdowns, on uncompensated takings, on excusing First Amendment infringements & Fourth Amendment violations... If Kamala Harris' Father is part White & part Jamaican African and her Mother is Asian-Indian then is she really Black?

Is Joe Biden's running mate really Black? If Kamala Harris' father is part white and part Jamaican African and her mother is Asian-Indian then is she really Black? Reason.com tries to figure it out: Kamala Harris, Joe Biden's pick to be the Democratic Party's vice-presidential nominee, is the daughter of an Indian immigrant mother and a Jamaican immigrant father. Her father, as I understand it, has ancestors of both European and African origin. [Welcome new Volokh readers. FYI, I've been working on a book on the American Law of Race, with this forthcoming article the first relevant output. My own opinion is that Ms. Harris should be deemed American, period, but there is no such box on government forms, and if you decline to state your race, someone will decide for you… First things first. There is no multiracial or mixed-race category in American law in any jurisdiction. Nor is there an Indian category. So Harris cannot be legally Indian, nor can she b
